business component approach
Use of the Business Component Approach affects:

  • Architecture: provides a consistent terminology and categorisation for defining business system architectures and the underlying architectures needed to support these. BCA is a perfect basis for building a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), with Business Component Systems being exposed as services.

  • Design Techniques: provides guidelines on how to design distributed components, and what makes an effective reusable component.

  • Configuration Management: provides guidelines on how to best manage all development artefacts from a component perspective, maximising the chances of reusing a component in new systems

  • Development tasks: provides a process for development teams to tackle large-scale business system development.
